Suresh Raina's heroic 98 helps Chennai to beat Rajasthan by 38 runs

Chennai Super Kings won a match after 3 consecutive defeats in 2009 IPL, as they beat defending champion Rajasthan Royals by 38 runs in the 2nd game on Thursday, 30th April, 2009 at Centurion. Chennai made 164/5 and restricted Rajasthan to 126 all out in 19.3 overs.

ChennaiSuper Kings started poorly as they reduced to 17/2 but one of the dynamic innings by Suresh Raina scored 98 runs off 55 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes and taken the score to 164/5 in 20 overs. Yusuf Pathan bowled well took 2 wickets for 17 runs.

In reply Rajasthan Royals slumped to 126 all out in 19.3 overs as L Balaji took 4 wickets for 21 runs and only Asnodkar made 37 runs.

Delhi Daredevils vs Deccan Chargers Result - Dilshan's 52 runs set victory for Delhi

Deccan Chargers tasted their 1st defeat in the 2009 IPL by the hand of tournament favorites Delhi Daredevils beat them by 6 wickets with 8 balls remaining on Thursday, 30th April, 2009 at Centurion. Deccan Chargers retained their top position in points table. Deccan made 148/9 and Delhi scored 150/4 in 18.4 overs.

Deccan Chargers batting 1st lost their in-form batsmen Gilchrist early but Dwayn Smith scores 52 runs but Nannes 2 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs restrict them to 148/9 in 20 overs.

Delhi Daredevils started poorly as sehwag, Gambhir and AB de Villiers out cheaply but Dilshan once gain batted superbly scored 52 off 45 ball with 4 fours and 3 sixes and well supported by Karthik 41 off 30 balls.

A powerful hitting of 62 runs off 30 balls by Yusuf Pathan guides Rajasthan Royals an important 5 wicket win over Delhi Daredevils and stopped their unbeaten 3 match run in 2009 IPL on Tuesday, 28th April, 2009 in the first match at Centurion. Delhi made 143/7 and Rajasthan reached the target with 9 balls remaining.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat first and managed only 143/7 in 20 overs due to some fine bowling by Munaf Patel who took 2 wicket sfor just 14 runs in 4 overs. Only AB deVilliers able to score 50 runs.

Rajasthan Royals was struggling at 65/5 in 11 overs untill Yusufa Pathan came to bat and put an unbeaten partnership of 83 runs off just 45 balls with Graem Smith to register a superb victory with 9 balls remaining. Yusuf hit 62 runs off just 30 balls with 3 fours and 6 powerful sixes.

Gibbs helps Deccan for 4t win vs Chennai , Tendulkar lead Mumbai for 3rd win vs Kolkata

Deccan Chargerss maintained their unbeaten record in the 2009 IPL as they beat ChennaiSuper Kings by 6 wickets in the 1st match of the day while in the 2nd game Mumbai Indians crushed Kolkata Knight Riders by 92 runs on Monday, 27th April, 2009.

ChennaiSuper Kings set a target of 165/6 in 20 overs thanks to Hayden's 49 and Oram's unbeaten 41 runs. In reply Deccan Chargers got a flying start by Gilchrist and Gibbs as they took the score to 60 runs in 4 overs and scored 44 and 69* runs respectively to register 4th consecutive win o f the tournament.

In the 2nd game of the day Mumbai Indians registered a big win of 92 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders thanks to 127 runs 1st wicket partnership between Jayasuriya and Tendulkar scored 52 off 32 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes and 68 runs off 45 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes respectively. They bowled out Kolkata Knight Riders to 95 runs as Malinga took 3 wickets.

Mumbai Indians vs Deccan Chargers Result - Giibbs star in 12 run win for Deccan

In a thrilling 1st match of the day, Deccan Chargers continues their form and remains unbeaten in the tournament so far as they beat Mumbai Indians by 12 runs on Saturday, 25th April, 2009 at Cape Town. Deccan scored 168/9 and restricted Mumbai to 156/7 in 20 overs.

IPL 4th Match Result - Deccan Chargers won by 8 wick vs Kolkata Riders

Deccan Chargers put behind their last year's performance where they finished last and got a winning start of the 2009 Indian Premier League - IPL season by beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets on Sunday, 19th April, 2009 at Cape Town.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and electedto bat but new captain Brandon Mccullum and Chris Gayle gone early followed by former captain Gaunguly and bundled out on 101 in 19.4 overs. RP Singh took 4 wickets.

IPL 3rd Match Result - Delhi beats Punjab by 10 wick in Rain hit Match

2009 IPL favorite Delhi Daredevils started their journey with a bang as they beat Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets with 7 balls remaining in a rain shortened match on Sunday, 19th April, 2009 at Cape Town.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field first in a match shortened of 12 overs a side and restricted Kings XI Punjab to 104/7 after they got a good start by Bopara and Goeal added 67 in 6 overs, but Daniel Vettori after break took 3 wickets for 15 runs.

Delhi Daredevils chasing a target of 105 in 12 overs were 24/0 in 1.5 overs before rain interpreted again and they got a revised target of 54 runs in 6 overs which they got easily with 7 balls remaining as Sehwag hit 38 runs of just 16 balls.

IPL2 1st Match Result - Mumbai Indians beat Chennai by 19 runs

Mumbai Indians got winning start of the 2009 Indian Premier League - IPL, after they won the 1st match by 19 runs against last years runner-up Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, 18th April, 2009 at Cape Town. Mumbai Indians scored 165/7 while Chennai Super Kings made 146/7 in 20 overs.

Sachin Tendulkar hit an unbeaten half-century as he led the Mumbai Indians to a 19-run win against the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the Indian Premier League at Newlands on Saturday.

Tendulkar's 59 not out provided the foundation for Mumbai's 165 for seven after they were sent in on a blustery, grey day.

Former Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden hit 44 and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni 36 for Chennai but the 2008 runners-up could only manage 146 for seven.
Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga bowled superbly to take three for 15 in four overs for Mumbai.

Mumbai's innings was anchored by Tendulkar, who largely played conventional cricket, punctuated by lofted off-drives.

Although he opened the batting he faced only 48 balls, hitting seven fours.
Tendulkar and Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya (26) put on 39 for the first wicket. He then shared a second wicket stand of 43 with Shikhar Dhawan (22).

Batting conditions were tricky under grey skies and Mumbai were struggling at 102 for four in the 15th over before the left-handed Abhishek Nayar lashed 35 off 14 balls in a fifth wicket stand of 46 with Tendulkar.

Nayar slammed three sixes in an over from Andrew Flintoff which cost 22 runs. Flintoff, who is on a 1.55-million dollar a season contract, was the most expensive Chennai bowler, conceding 44 runs in four overs.

Flintoff made 24 in Chennai's reply as he helped Hayden put on 52 for the third wicket. He hit two fours and a six off 22 balls before he heaved a ball from Harbhajan Singh high in the air for the off-spinner to take a catch off his own bowling.

Hayden hit his 44 off 35 balls before Zaheer Khan took a stinging catch in the cover off a fierce drive against Jayasuriya's left-arm spin. Dhoni hit 36 off 26 balls before being bowled by Malinga in the final over.
