In a thrilling 1st match of the day, Deccan Chargers continues their form and remains unbeaten in the tournament so far as they beat Mumbai Indians by 12 runs on Saturday, 25th April, 2009 at Cape Town. Deccan scored 168/9 and restricted Mumbai to 156/7 in 20 overs.
Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first got a flying start by Gilchrist and Gibbs scored 35 and 58 runs respectively, Devon Smith also contributed 35 runs. They were 124/1 in 13 overs at 1 stage but lost momentum in death overs and managed only 44 runs in 43 balls and finished on 168/9.
Mumbai Indians also started well despite Jayasuriya's wicket in 1st over but 85 runs partnership between Tendulkar and Duminy, made 36 and 47 runs respectively, took them 84/1 in 10 overs. They lost momentum after the break and felt short by 12 runs in the end.
